Following the lives of my children, nieces and nephews has taught me lots of stuff. Young people have an elasticity to their lives and they have big goals and big dreams, big hearts. From a distance I can see things that I cannot see in the clutter of my own life, thus I learn from them.

This week's CAVU news is that Carson has signed a pro hockey contract with the Minnesota Wild and we all get to share in his joy.
I think that when he left home four years ago, to play with the Calgary Hitmen, hockey became fun work, fun but still work. Over the past four years I was lucky to attend a couple of his games each and see Carson work to his goal or as his mom says, keeping his eye on the prize.
This Hitmen season has been special, the "stars" of last year's team had moved on and there were not any " stars" left on the team thus a lot unknowns. To everyone's surprise, the team had a great season, one of their best in history, good for them, they worked hard.
I find the best part of the game is after the game for that is where the real magic happens and I get to watch Carson interact with small kids that have big dreams.
